Soundtrack Q & A
Q: What's the song playing when Angelina Jolie asks Matt Damon for the dance? I think it is a Frank Sinatra song, but not sure. Is that song on the soundtrack CD? (from al in kenosha, wi)
A: I think the track you are referring to is track 9 on this soundtrack CD, called "Embraceable You." And yes it is by Frank Sinatra. (thanks to Mitch, Brisbane, Australiaadd more info
A: It is not quite correct, I think to say that the song "Embraceable You" (which is indeed the name of the song at issue is "by" Frank Sinatra. It was written by George Gershwin in the 1930s and many many singers recorded it before Mr. Sinatra did (and many have recorded it since). It is a "standard" and in my opinion Frank Sinatra's recording is not the best of them (but that is only my opinion. (thanks to TAS, New York, NYadd more info

Q: What is the piano piece playing in the background when Angelina Jolie arrives home after Eddie Redmayne (Edward Junior - their son) puts the handcrafted ship inside the bottle with Matt Damon?? I know it's a great classical piece, just not sure what it's called or who composed it. Please let me know!!! This is so frustrating not knowing! (from Curious_cat in Brisbane, Australia)
A: Brahms Waltz in A-Flat Major (thanks to matt, Australiaadd more info

Q: Who sings "Blue Skies" in the movie and on the sound track?
...from oakbruce in USA (answer oakbruce's question)

Q: Who recorded "Shenandoah" for the movie? Seems to me it should have been the actual Whiffenpoofs, no? That arrangement and performance was simply stunning. Why the heck isn't this track on the soundtrack? And all those other silly poof songs are. Poor choice. (from mark in ca)
A: I arranged the song - thank you for your compliment! I'm a member of the Kingsmen at Columbia University, and we'll be releasing the track sometime in the next few months. (thanks to Henry, New Yorkadd more info

Q: What is the name of the opera at the end of the movie? (from sophie in Canada)
A: "HMS Pinafore" by Gilbert & Sullivan. You heard the character Buttercup singing her title song: "I'm Poor Little Buttercup." (thanks to TAS, New York, NYadd more info

Q: Where can I find a recording of Shenandoah Song from the movie? It's not on the soundtrack and in the credits is listed only as "Shenandoah - arranged by Henry Pedersen." If the soundtrack was re-realesed with that song added I'd buy CD just for that song.  (from JoAn in California)
A: I'm the Henry who did the arrangement- thank you for your compliment! The group is the Columbia Kingsmen, and we'll have a recording in a few months. (thanks to Henry, New Yorkadd more info

Q: What choir preformed the Shenandoah Song? (from tiger in de leon, texas, usa)
A: The Columbia Kingsmen. (thanks to Henry, New Yorkadd more info

Q: The opening track "Edward" - who wrote this song? (from Beano in United Kingdom)
A: Marcelo Zarvos (thanks to Bulk, Ballingslyadd more info

Q: Is the song "Shenandoah" by the Columbia Kingsmen available yet?
...from dives69 in Blackall Central QLD Australia (answer dives69's question)

Q: Who is singing "Oh, Christmas Tree" in the background when Edward & Clover take their son to Philip Allen's home for a Christmas (almost sounds like Abba!)? Thanks!
...from Jill in Ohio (answer Jill's question)

Q: When Matt D. is dancing (to "blue skies") with Laura (deaf woman), and they are interrupted by a guy saying "Germany has declared war," the band picks back up with a slower piano song... what's the name of this song?
...from big daddy in LA (answer big daddy's question)

Q: What is the male chorus singing in the part where his son is doing a solo and the chorus is in the background? I think it's at his school were he has a conversation in the balcony on the second level ?
...from Milton in Daytona Beach, Fl (answer Milton's question)

Q: Hi! What's the violin piece performed by the spy towards the end of the film? It sounds like a classical piece and I was hoping to get the name of the piece. Thank you so much! (from Claudia Hinz in Bend, Oregon)
A: Tchaikovsky -- Violin Concerto #1, Op.35 from the Canzonetta (thanks to Alex, Calgary AB, Calgar, Alberta, Canadaadd more info
