Soundtrack Q & A
Q: Hi. Has the main title track from this film been used for any other film / advert? (from David in Isle of Wight, England)
A: There's a new Nike NFL commercial playing during American Football games featuring Sean Merriman Ladanian Tomlinson of the SD Chargers. It's pretty cool. (thanks to Sean, Warwick, RIadd more info
A: The NFL commercial uses the track named "Promontory" (thanks to princen, Kapolei, HI add more info

Q: I thought that Dougie Maclean did the music for this movie? I am confused. (from joy in florida)
A: Trevor Jones used Dougie MacLean's music, a piece called "The Gael," in several places throughout the score. It's the fiddle part you hear in the tracks "The Kiss" and "Promentory." (thanks to OSTfan, Burlingameadd more info
A: Trevor Jones did the big orchestral pieces. Randy Edelman did the shorter, more electronic b-side pieces. They collaborated because director Mann decided to re-orchestrate the music - it was originally going to be an all-electronic soundtrack! The fiddle piece "The Kiss" was originally composed by Dougie McLean as a Scottish folk tune, and rearranged for "Promontory" which is the big ending scene (8 minutes in the original cut). Clanaad (the Celtic group headed by Enya's sister, Maire Brennan) wrote the song "I Will Find You" which appears in some editions of the film (as the Mohicans search for the captive women.) (thanks to Brian, washington, dc, usaadd more info

Q: I would like to know which instruments are involved in this soundtrack, specifically in the tracks 1 and 3. Is there sheet music I can get? (from question in argentna)
A: The Scottish fiddle (like in "the Gael") is one of the main instruments in this soundtrack, which also have influences from western orchestral and traditional celtic folklore instruments. (thanks to T, Norwayadd more info

...from BROADSWORD in UK (answer BROADSWORD's question)
