Soundtrack Q & A
Q: What is the song playing in the trailer for this movie?  (from Grace  in Florida )
A: The song playing at the very beginning of the trailer is called "Briony." It's right on the soundtrack. But the song playing more towards the end of the trailer (which is my favorite and took me forever to track down as well) is called "The Vision" by X-Ray dog, a song made the just for the trailer. (thanks to XOExotiic88 , Rhode Island add more info

Q: What's the name of the song/hymn the group of soldiers sang in the pagoda on the beach?  (from graham  in perth australia )
A: The song they're singing is called "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind." (thanks to XOExotiic88 , Rhode Island add more info
A: The hymn the soldiers sing in the Pagoda on the beach is not "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind," but rather a hymntune entitled "Repton." It can be found in most mainstream Protestant hymnals, such as Presbyterian, Anglican, Lutheran, and Methodist. The sheet music can be downloaded for free here. (thanks to apbaio , Seattle, WA - USA add more info
A: In the Episcopal hymnbook, the Repton tune is an alternative setting for John Greenleaf Whittier's poem "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind." (Hymn 653). That is the tune and words which are sung by the soldiers in the Dunkirk scene in Atonement. (thanks to GW Rogers , Lubbock, Texas, USA add more info
A: It's Hymn #653 in the Episcopal Hymnal (thanks to Cindy , Lexington, KY add more info
A: To clarify: the hymn tune itself is called "Repton," and its composer is Charles Hubert Parry, a very well known figure in English Victorian church music. To my ear, it has a very English feel to it. Perfect for the movie. (thanks to Ingram , Handen CT add more info

Q: What is the organ music playing as Paul Marshall and Cee's cousin leave the church at the end of their wedding?  (from Greg  in Los Angeles )
A: There is organ music in the original score by Dario Marianelli. Find it in the latter half of track 11, "Come Back." (thanks to SoundtrackHolmes , 221B Baker St add more info

Q: Who performs "O Soave Fancuilla" played by Robbie in his room?  (from STEPHANIE  in CANADA )
A: That song is from La Bohème and it's written by Giacomo Puccini. (thanks to XOExotiic , Rhode Island add more info
A: The duet is performed by Victoria De Los Angeles and Jussi Bjorling. (thanks to waverly , California add more info
A: Available on the Sir Thomas Beecham conducted recording af La Boheme from 1956. (thanks to A fan , DK add more info

Q: Is the organ music part in track 11 written specifically for this movie, or is it part of some other, larger piece?  (from Jonathan  in Sweden )
A: I have the same question... although the answer to an above question seems to hint that it was written into the score by Dario Marinelli... is this right? (thanks to ben , australia add more info

Q: Where can I find the cello sheet music for "Love Letters" or any other pieces from this film?
...from Heather  in NY  (answer Heather's question)

Q: Who is the artist sing the song when Robbie is in the bath and C is getting ready for the big dinner party? He has such a beautiful voice I would like to purchase a CD.
...from mary  in Australia  (answer mary's question)
