| The movie's music was originally Oscar-nominated for for Best Original Dramatic Score in 1972, but the Academy disqualified it from competing in that category when it was discovered that composer Nino Rota had cribbed the film's popular "Love Theme" from his score from the 1957 Italian film Fortunella. |

| Q: | I am listening to "La Forza del Destino" on the Met broadcast. I seem to remember hearing music from that opera during the Baptism scene in this movie. Recently when I saw it on TV there was another theme - non-operatic - not as powerful. Am I dreaming or has there been a change in the soundtrack?

| A: | Sally, it's entirely possible you're not dreaming. Director/co-writer Francis Coppola re-edited the 1st 2 films in the Godfather Trilogy into a TV version called The Godfather Saga (which still shows up on TV from time to time) back in 1977. While he was at it, he may have changed some of the music cues. I can't say for sure - I haven't seen this version in a really long time (i.e., 20+ years). Anyway, this may have been the version you caught on TV. (thanks to Art Turner

| Q: | Right after Michael kills Solozo and the dirty cop, he runs out and a dramatic score is played ("Michael's Theme"). Right after that, we see the corpses and a montage sequence begins showing newspaper headlines and the Corleone Family eating and so on. During that sequence, a piano piece is heard which happens to be played by one of the mafiosi during the montage. I would like to know the name of that particular piece.

| A: | I have heard from my searchings around the internet that it MIGHT be called "This Loneliness" and available only on a rare LP vinyl album called Godfather's Wedding Album or something like that. There is a funny video on YouTube with the music. Just search for "The Godfather Mattresses Montage" and you'll find it. I honestly don't know if that's the title of the song but I do know that it was played by Carmine Coppola and he may or may not have written it. That's all I've found from my searches. | A: | Yes I too have heard it is called "This Loneliness".... This piece is just about impossible to find on record and even more impossible to find the sheet music for. Very frustrating... but I have also heard it is on the wedding album. (thanks to Jon

| Q: | At Connie's wedding there is a song sung by the guy who later dies eating the cannoli's at the opera. Someone told me it was Silly Sally or something like that but I can't find anything and it's not on the soundtrack. Also, if you've ever been to a Mets game, they play clips of it at the stadium. Anyone know what song it is?
