Soundtrack Q & A
Q: The Merle Haggard track "Okie From Muskogee" doesn't sound like the 1969 hit. For one thing the track from the Platoon CD has hand clapping that isn't heard on the 1969 recording. Haggard's voice on the Platoon CD track sounds more mature, like a more recent (ca 1986) recording. Is there any info as to what was the source of the track for the film/CD? (from Tom K in Clearwater, Fl)
A: The Platoon version is from the album "Okie From Muskogee" which was recorded live in Muskogee, Oklahoma the same year the more popular studio version of the song was released (1969). The album was originally released the same year and re-released several times after that. (thanks to xray, Bloomfield, NJadd more info

Q: How can I purchase the song "Adagio For Strings" ? (from C. Maxine Gray in Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA)
A: Barber's Adagio is a very popular piece, found on many films. It can be found on any number of CDs performed by various orchestras from around the world. Go to Amazon (or any cd or mp3 purchase site of your choosing) and search on "Barbers Adagio". Then listen to the various offerings and make your choice. I've never heard one I didn't like.
