Soundtrack Q & A
Q: I am trying to find out what the classical piano piece is when Douglas meets Kate for the first time in the rink. She is skating in white.  (from kelly in Buffalo, NY USA)
A: The music is by Franz Schubert and is "Impromptu" Opus 90 #4. (thanks to Alan, Schaumburg, ILadd more info

Q: I am trying to find out the name of a song used in the movie that is not on the soundtrack. It sounded like race cars or racing. Any ideas? (from Janet in Miami, FL)
A: The song is "The Race" by Yello. I can not find an instrumental version of this as played in the movie. (thanks to Al, Ilinoisadd more info

Q: What is the name of the classical music playing when Brian and Kate are practicing (at the start of the movie at the Olympics) and Kate almost falls on the ice?
...from Alan M in Schaumburg, IL (answer Alan M's question)

Q: Kate has just come out of the shower and is looking out the window watching it snow and combing her hair when Doug barges in. What is the name of the music playing when this scene starts?
...from Alan in Schaumburg, IL (answer Alan's question)

Q: After Anton told Kate that Doug went off to Boston, the scene changes to Doug & Kate completing their throw double sow move and finishing their practice routine. What is the name of the music playing? (from Alan in Schaumburg, IL)
A: It's an original piece of music from the film's score. (thanks to Michelle, USAadd more info

Q: What song is Kate skating to with her first partner at the Olympics? The song on the video where she messes up?  (from Amie in north port,fl)
A: First I need to know if you are talking about the first scene where Kate almost falls and is chewed out by her coach, or the scene after the hockey game in actual competition at the Olympics where Kate falls on the ice. (thanks to Al, Schaumburg, ILadd more info
A: It's the Can-Can tune. (thanks to Sparrow, New Zealandadd more info

Q: At the new years party, is there a Lenny Kravitz song playing? I really like the song but I can't identify it. Please can you tell me the title of the song. Thank you. (from Ruthie in Hemel Hempstead UK)
A: There were three songs played at the New Year Eve's party. The first song is "Love Shack," the second song is "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" and the last song is "Walking the Dog." (thanks to Al, Schaumburg, ILadd more info

Q: What is the title/artist for the music used when Doug & Kate perform their pairs competition? (from bergen in NJ)
A: The song is "The Race" by Yello. This is used in both the Nationals and the Olympics. The movie used a instrumental version of this song, which I can not locate. (thanks to Al, Schaumburg, ILadd more info
A: There is no "instrumental version" as they used highly edited and strung-together parts from the original 13 minute version of the song which has vocals all throughout it. It's kinda like the way there's an "official" 3 minute version of Kraftwerk's wonderful classic song "Autobahn" but the original version is almost 12 minutes long. Your best bet, if you want that song, is to somehow isolate the audio from the film OR get the original 13 minute version and then do the edits yourself to match Doug and Kate. Last but not least - Toepik! (thanks to John, Chicagoadd more info

Q: There is a song playing when Kate and Jack are running outdoors, and it's not on the soundtrack CD. What is it? (from Beth in Orlando, FL)
A: If you mean the montage where they're jogging together, then working out together, the song is called "Ride on Time". (thanks to Michelle, USAadd more info

Q: What song is playing when Doug and Kate are playing hockey and she hits Doug with the puck?? Is it Chris Isaac?? (from Phil in Lynn)
A: The song is Chris Isaak's "Diddley Daddy." (thanks to Michelle, USAadd more info

Q: Has anyone been able to find the instrumental version of the song "The Race" by Yello that was used in the movie?
...from Nicholas in Washington, DC (answer Nicholas's question)

Q: What song is playing when they are in the bar doing the shots and dancing? (from P Sinner in Carlsbad NM)
A: "Baby Now I" by Dan Reed Network. I found the clip for this scene on YouTube and memorized the words! Then googled the song title for lyrics to get confirmation. (thanks to Irish70, Chicago, ILadd more info

Q: What song do Doug and Kate skate to in their last performance? It's when they do the Pamchenko performance at the end of the movie. Thank you
...from Keith in Las Vegas, nv (answer Keith's question)

Q: During the medal round at the Olympics, Laurie Peckarovski and Brian Neuman skate to a lovely piece that sounds classical and done by a full orchestra. Any idea on what that piece is?
...from Paladin in Worcester, Ma (answer Paladin's question)

Q: What is the song Kate is skating to at the intro of the movie?
...from Jeanene in NRH, Texas (answer Jeanene's question)
