Soundtrack Q & A
Q: What is the name of the musical score heard just prior to Norrington and Elizabeth walking off together before she falls in to the water? The scene opens on a close up of some musicians playing a classical tune I can't identify. This music is not referenced in the films credits even though the score of Rule Britannia has been identified as non-original music and uncredited. Would you happen to know what the piece is that they are playing?
...from Mike in Renton, Washington (answer Mike's question)

Q: Ok, this soundtrack has many of the same themes and musical ideas as the Gladiator soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer. This soundtrack is supposedly composed by Klaus Badelt, but the second Pirates (Dead Man's Chest) is composed by Hans Zimmer and the music has, once again, the same musical ideas as the first one. Obviously, even if they changed composers, they didn't want the music to be completely unfamiliar, but how can the first one sound soooo much like Gladiator, but be composed by Klaus Badelt? And then have the second one composed by Zimmer? I don't get it. It all sounds like Zimmer to me. (from Grace in Orlando, FL USA)
A: Grace, Hans did most of the themes for the first Pirates movie. Apparently Klaus's name ended up on the credits as the main composer due to some legal reasoning. As for the sequel... well, after the roaring success of the first score, why would they change the tunes for the second? ;-) (thanks to Sylvos, UKadd more info

Q: Who was the first trumpet player on this score? I've been trying to find a full list of musicians who played on this score, because, as a musical fanatic and trumpet player myself, I really want to find out. All are fabulous musicians, and I was just wondering if maybe you could direct me to this list, or just tell me the name of the trumpet player, perhaps?
...from Steven in Boise, ID (answer Steven's question)

Q: What's the song playing when Jack and Will are hiding from the governor's people? They are hiding under that boat and walk into the water, just before Will gets his foot caught in the crate. (from iluvpeterpan in Brisbane, Australia)
A: It's called "Jack Sparrow"...... (thanks to jacksparrowmaniac, port royaladd more info
