Soundtrack Q & A
Q: I have just seen Cast Away for the first time. The music sounds very similar to Anton Dvorak's Symphony #9 (from the New World) - especially the "Going Home" theme. IF indeed the soundtrack is identical or a close adaptation of Dvorak's work, why is it not mentioned? Why do the credits state that the music was composed by Alan Silvestri? Dvorak's work probably does not have a copywrite; however is this an excuse for taking credit for another person's creation? Please explain or advise if I am incorrect. (from ASG in New York, NY)
A: It is not identical, nor is it an adaptation. Are you a composer? If you transcribe the notes, you will see this. (thanks to Greg, Californiaadd more info
A: I'm thinking the exact same thing. The beautiful music from Cast Away is a ripoff of Dvorak's #9 Symphony, 2nd movement. (thanks to thujone, SF, CAadd more info

Q: I originally heard some of this music at the Prague Philharmonic. It was with a special friend and I wanted to know who originally composed this music and the title. Was it the Gremlins Ayria?
